What is the Difference Between Average and Successful People?

Here are traits that can help you shift from being average to a successful individual.

This might be a surprising fact: successful people are not by-products of some miraculous and out-of-this-world experiences. When compared to the average Joe, physically, they are just the same, made of flesh and blood.

But there are a few key things that these people have that make them stand out from ordinary folks.

They have curious minds.

Successful people seem to always ask questions for things that, to an ordinary person, would be seen to be clear enough. They often ask if there is more than what their eyes can see, and look at the bigger picture. Norms and the status quo is often challenged by this type. Being genuinely interested and acting upon this curiosity is a great trait to have, often leading to success.

They become trailblazers.

The rejection of the status quo often leads them to look for new ways to do and accomplish things. This is fueled by any number of things, one of which includes the need for more efficient and streamlined processes. Introducing new concepts and setting the trail for everybody else to follow is sort of expected and it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that the app you’re using or process you’re following at work right now was jumpstarted by a successful person.

They easily adapt.

When challenges come their way, they don’t waste their time whining at their circumstances and how ‘unlucky’ they are. Instead, successful people accept the changes, charge forward and make the best out of what life has thrown at them. And because of this ability, they will most likely turn out victorious after.

They love learning.

One thing that successful people have in common is their passion for learning new information and skills, becoming in touch with what’s going on with the world. For them, education does not stop within the four corners of a classroom. You will often catch them reading countless of pages and online articles, some even going further and taking classes and adding more degrees to their roster.

They set realistic goals and execute an actionable plan.

In spite of being innately ambitious, they know when a goal is not feasible or attainable - and they know that it’s not wrong to think so. Because they can assess the situation objectively, they can draft goals that they are confident they can accomplish through plans with actionable items and deadlines they intend to meet.

They work smart, and have time for play too.

They make use of their time, resources and abilities to work more efficiently. You rarely see successful people spending every waking moment finishing tasks and projects. They know how to manage their time, because they know that making time for non-work related things is just as important too.
